An attractive village situated in the heart of the Wirral countryside. The history of the village shows it has been an important agricultural settlement for over a thousand years. Traces of its importance as a farming community can be seen in the bulidings around the village green which include several former farmhouses.
In 1305 the settlement was described at 'Wilaston' and derives from a personal element 'Wiglafs tun'. The settlement gave its name to the Hundred of Wilaveston or Wirral.
Willaston Hall is close by the village green. The manor house has an Elizabethan-style front with three tall gables and is built of red brick with stone dressings.
Running through the village is the Wirral Way, a popular walk. The old railway trackbed provides an excellent amenity route passing along the Dee estuary and through attractive farmland.
